This dress has a particularly authentic feel to it, highlighted by the color and trimmings. The silk, in reality more likely to have been a woven pattern, was printed specially for the costume.

The two gowns from Dangerous Liasons are very much in the taste of the fashionable, afluent pre-Revolutionary French court in which the film is set. Their profusion of trimmings arranged in sinuous lines on rustling silks characterizes the contemporary Rococo vogue for busy surface decoration.
